Utah State University senior gymnast Avery Bibbey has been selected as one of 45 nominees for the American Athletic Inc. (AAI) Award, an honor given each year to the top senior female collegiate gymnast in the nation. The AAI Award is often referred to as the Heisman Trophy of gymnastics.
Bibbey is the only athlete from the Mountain West Conference to be nominated this year.
“What a tremendous honor for Avery,” said Utah State head gymnastics coach Kristin White. “We are incredibly proud of her contributions in the classroom, gym, and community. She is a great leader and very deserving of this recognition.”
Throughout her collegiate career, Bibbey has won five event titles on bars, including two during the current season. She currently ranks seventh in the Mountain West on bars with a National Qualifying Score of 9.785.
In 2025, Bibbey was named first-team All-Mountain West and has also earned MW Bars Co-Specialist of the Week honors once during her time at Utah State. She qualified for the 2025 NCAA Regional Championships on bars with a National Qualifying Score of 9.860, ranking third in the Mountain West, tied for 17th in the North Central Region, and tied for 96th nationally.
Academically, Bibbey graduated in fall 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science and maintained a GPA of 3.97. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in sports management. Her academic recognitions include being named a Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-American three times, Academic All-District twice, Academic All-Mountain West twice, and Mountain West Scholar-Athlete twice.
Bibbey has also completed over 100 hours of community service by working with local schools and participating in family- and youth-focused events such as Truck or Treat and Little Lambs Christmas Party. She takes part in National Girls and Women in Sports Day Clinics and supports fundraising efforts like The Family Place Superhero Fundraiser for Kids.
Her leadership roles include serving as an executive administrator for Utah State’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee where she helps organize operations and supports student-athlete initiatives related to career preparation after sports.
Bibbey remains active within team-based service projects that support both her teammates and members of the wider Aggie community.
