Utah State University senior Logan Hammer has been recognized as the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance ending March 1. The selection was made by a panel of media members from across the state.

Hammer secured the Mountain West title in pole vault at the recent Indoor Track and Field Championships, clearing a height of 5.50 meters (18-0.5). This achievement marks his third consecutive indoor pole vault title and his sixth overall gold medal in Mountain West competition. He entered the event at 5.35 meters (17-6.5) with only Colorado State’s Taylor Waters remaining, then cleared his first two attempts to win the championship.

America First Credit Union supports this award by providing direct funding for student-athlete scholarships.

Other nominees for the weekly honor included athletes from men’s basketball, women’s basketball, gymnastics, softball, women’s tennis, and women’s track and field:

Mason Falslev, a junior guard from Benson, Utah, contributed to Utah State men’s basketball with an average of 12.5 points and seven rebounds over two games last week.

Aaliyah Gayles led Utah State women’s basketball with an average of 15.5 points per game during losses to New Mexico and Boise State.

In gymnastics, junior Nyla Morabito shared the floor title with a season-high score and tied her career high on vault to help secure a team victory against Air Force.

Freshman Kate Vance led Aggies softball at the Beehive Classic with a .333 batting average over five games.

Sophomore Maria Paula Ramos Garcia went undefeated in singles and doubles play for women’s tennis during matches against College of Idaho and Idaho.

Shay Jones tied the school record in women’s 400 meters at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 53.05 seconds and anchored a relay team that posted the second-best time in program history.

The America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week is part of an ongoing recognition program that highlights outstanding performances throughout each athletic season across various sports at Utah State University.
