Utah State University announced on Apr. 3 that Mason Falslev, a junior on the men’s basketball team, and Kaylie Kofe, a sophomore on the volleyball team, have been named Male and Female Athlete of the Year at the annual Robins Awards.

The awards recognize outstanding achievements by student-athletes at Utah State. The recognition highlights both athletic performance and contributions to their respective teams during the season.

Falslev played a key role in leading Utah State men’s basketball to one of its most successful seasons. The Aggies won both the Mountain West regular season title and tournament championship. They also advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after defeating Villanova in the opening round for only the second time in three years. Falslev was honored as league player of the year, selected for both first team and all-defensive team honors, and averaged 16 points per game along with strong performances in rebounds, assists, steals, field goal percentage, free throws made, and defensive rebounds. He was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.

Other nominees for Male Athlete of the Year included Jean-Baptiste Badon (tennis), Bryson Barnes (football), Logan Hammer (track & field), Chase Goetschel (golf), and Garrett Woodhouse (cross country).

Kofe achieved a historic season for Utah State volleyball by becoming its first-ever conference player of the year. She earned AVCA All-American honorable mention status—only twelve Aggies have ever received this honor—and led her team to an undefeated conference season as well as Mountain West regular season and tournament titles before upsetting Tennessee in NCAA Tournament play. Kofe ranked third nationally with 11.08 assists per set last season; her total assists placed her fifth all-time at USU.

Nominees for Female Athlete of the Year included Kaylie Chambers (soccer), Kaylee Erickson (softball), Karyn Sanford (basketball), Natalie Swain (cross country), Mya Witte (gymnastics), Mashayle Jones (track & field) and Terezia Mlkva (tennis).
