Utah State women’s basketball lost to Boise State 75-59 on Saturday at ExtraMile Arena. The Aggies kept the game close for much of the contest, but a 14-0 run by Boise State in the third quarter proved decisive.
Boise State started strong, taking an early 8-2 lead and holding a seven-point advantage in the first quarter. Utah State responded with a 6-0 run, capped by a layup from senior Jamisyn Heaton, narrowing the gap to 13-12 after one quarter. Senior Karyn Sanford gave Utah State its first lead early in the second quarter.
Junior Aaliyah Gayles sparked a 10-2 run for Utah State with free throws and a three-pointer, while sophomore Elise Livingston added another three-pointer to put the Aggies up by six. Boise State answered with an 8-1 run to take a 28-27 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, Gayles and Livingston helped Utah State regain a four-point lead, but Boise State’s extended scoring burst shifted momentum. Despite efforts in the fourth quarter—highlighted by Livingston’s third three-pointer—the Aggies could not overcome their deficit as Boise State continued to respond each time Utah State closed within nine points.
Gayles led Utah State with 16 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Livingston contributed 13 points on efficient shooting and grabbed four rebounds. Rachel Wilson scored 12 points without missing a shot from the field and added three rebounds. Sanford had eight points and four assists, while Heaton recorded three steals.
Utah State shot 37.5 percent from the field and made just four of eighteen attempts from beyond the arc but converted nearly all their free throws (92.9 percent). Boise State shot over 48 percent overall and nearly 48 percent from three-point range. The Aggies outscored Boise State in points in the paint (32-30), fastbreak points (13-10), and forced more turnovers (18) than they committed (15).
Utah State (6-22, 2-17) will play its final home game of the season against Nevada on Tuesday, March 3 at 6 p.m., which will also serve as Senior Night. Single-game tickets are available online or at the USU Ticket Office.
