Utah State’s football team is in its fourth week of spring practice, according to an April 9 update from the program. Second-year defensive coordinator Nick Howell discussed the progress his defense has made so far this spring.
Spring practice is a key period for college football teams as they prepare for the upcoming season, giving coaches and players an opportunity to develop skills and assess talent. For Utah State, these practices allow returning players and new recruits to adapt to strategies under Howell’s leadership.
Howell said that his defense is progressing during these sessions. The focus during spring often includes evaluating player performance, installing new schemes, and building team chemistry.
The ongoing practices are part of Utah State’s preparations for the next season as they look to build on last year’s results. The team continues its work throughout April with additional sessions planned before concluding their spring schedule.
Looking ahead, Utah State will use insights gained from these practices to finalize their roster and make adjustments ahead of fall camp.
