Utah State University welcomed representatives from 16 National Football League teams as 14 former Aggies participated in the annual Pro Day at the iFIT Sports Performance Center and Stan Laub Indoor Training Center on Mar. 18.
The event gave former Utah State players a chance to showcase their skills in front of professional scouts ahead of the upcoming NFL Draft. The participants included defensive back Noah Avinger, quarterback Bryson Barnes, wide receiver Brady Boyd, wide receiver Kahanu Davis, running back Miles Davis, offensive lineman Jake Eichorn, defensive tackle Naki Fahina, defensive tackle Gabriel Iniguez Jr., tight end Broc Lane, safety Ike Larsen, linebacker John Miller, safety Bryson Taylor, defensive back Dylan Tucker and linebacker Clyde Washington.
Players were measured for height and weight before completing a series of speed and strength tests such as the bench press with 225 pounds, the 40-yard dash, shuttle runs, three-cone drill, broad jump and vertical jump. Fahina recorded one of the day’s top performances with 35 repetitions on the bench press at 225 pounds—a mark that would have ranked second among all participants at this year’s NFL Combine and is the highest at a Utah State pro day since Kevin Whimpey’s record in 2015. Avinger posted an impressive broad jump of 11 feet 4 inches that would have led this year’s Combine results. His vertical jump reached 42 inches—good enough for a top-10 finish—and his bench press performance tied for best among defensive backs.
Other notable performances included Boyd’s marks of a 40-inch vertical leap and a broad jump of nearly eleven feet along with a swift time in the 40-yard dash. Taylor led all Aggies in the sprint with consistent times of 4.40 seconds while also excelling in jumping events. Additional strong showings came from Tucker, K. Davis and M. Davis across various drills.
All times and measurements reported are unofficial. The prospects also took part in position-specific drills during the session.
The next major event for these athletes is the NFL Draft scheduled to take place April 3-25 in Pittsburgh.
