Utah State University’s men’s golf team finished in 15th place at the Wyoming-hosted Cowboy Classic, which took place on April 1 at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. The Aggies completed the tournament with a total score of 14-over-par 878 after rounds of 292, 299, and a final round of 287.
The tournament featured a competitive field of 25 teams. USC secured first place with a score of 26-under-par 838. Arkansas State’s Thomas Schmidt earned medalist honors as the top individual performer with a score of 13-under-par 203.
Sophomore Chase Goetschel led Utah State by tying for 33rd overall. He posted scores of 73, 74, and finished strong with a career-low-tying round of four-under-par (68) for an overall one-under-par total. This marks Goetschel’s third under par finish this season and his second consecutive week finishing under par.
Other notable performances for Utah State included sophomore Noah Moody tying for 53rd at two-over-par (218), freshman Zach Skinner tying for 64th at four-over (220), sophomore Hunter Hall tying for 92nd at nine-over (225), and sophomore Toby Heider tying for 110th at fourteen-over (230).
Looking ahead, Utah State will continue its spring season by competing in the UCSB Gaucho Invitational on April 6–7 at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, California.
