Utah State University’s golf team will travel to Peoria, Arizona, to participate in the Minnesota-hosted Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” Collegiate on March 23-24. The event will take place at the Wigwam Golf Club’s Gold Course, which is a par-72 course measuring 7,345 yards.
The tournament features a field of 17 teams, including Utah State and host Minnesota. Other participating schools are Arkansas State, Bethel, Denver, Drake, Iowa State, Kansas City, Marquette, Maryland, Nebraska, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Oral Roberts, St. Thomas, UT-San Antonio and Wisconsin. The competition format includes 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Mountain Time and 18 holes on Tuesday starting at 9 a.m. Live scoring for the event will be available online at scoreboard.clippd.com.
Utah State’s lineup consists of sophomore Chase Goetschel from Trabuco Canyon, California; sophomore Noah Moody from Vineyard, Utah; sophomore Toby Heider from Kimberly, Idaho; senior Luis Cantu from Monterrey, Mexico; and sophomore Hunter Hall from Cody, Wyoming.
In their first tournament of the spring season held March 2-3 at the Fresno State-hosted Watney Invitational, Utah State finished in 14th place with a total score of 51-over-par (903). Goetschel led the Aggies by tying for 31st individually with a score of seven-over-par (220).
Goetschel currently leads Utah State with an average score of 73.11 over 18 rounds this season. Moody has averaged 73.56 over the same number of rounds while Cantu holds an average of 74.33 over twelve rounds. Heider has posted an average score of 75.06 across eighteen rounds and Hall enters his second tournament this year with an average of 77.00 over three rounds.
