Utah State University’s women’s gymnastics team will host No. 25-ranked Oregon State in a dual meet on Friday, March 6, at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on the MW Network with live scoring available through StatBroadcast.com.
Utah State enters the meet with a 14-4 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark at home this season. A win over Oregon State would give the Aggies their fourth undefeated home record in nearly five decades of competition. The team is currently ranked 28th nationally.
The meet coincides with Senior Night and Alumni Night for Utah State gymnastics. The athletics department plans to distribute 500 t-shirts and 1,000 light sticks to early-arriving fans. After the competition, seniors Avery Bibbey, Amari Evans, Marley Peterson, and Chelsea Southam will be recognized for their contributions to the program.
Head coach Kristin White commented on her team’s mindset ahead of the contest: “This team is motivated and hungry. We saw on Monday night that when we have joy, trust, and details, our potential is very high. We look forward to having an incredible crowd on Friday. We’ve seen Oregon State once this year and they are a great team. Our Aggies are ready to bring it for our seniors.”
Earlier this week, Utah State University announced that Coach White has received a contract extension through the 2030 season. She is currently in her fourth year leading the program.
Last weekend’s victory over Air Force secured at least a share of the Mountain West regular season championship for Utah State—the eighth conference title in school history and second consecutive after winning last year’s postseason championship. This marks the first time USU has won back-to-back conference championships.
On Monday night, Utah State posted its third-highest score ever with a 196.875-195.725 win against Southern Utah on the road—its highest since scoring 197.025 at the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championships in 2022; the school record stands at 197.225 set in 1997.
The Aggies’ current start (14-4) ties for second-best in program history alongside teams from 1986 and 1999; only the 1978 squad began better with a 27-1 record.
Statistically, Utah State leads the Mountain West with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 195.741 and ranks highly across all apparatuses both within its conference and nationally.
Individually, junior Nyla Morabito stands out with ten career vault titles—tied for fifth-most in program history—and seven vault wins this season alone (second-most ever by an Aggie gymnast). Other top performers include Isabella Vater (floor), Olivia Orengo (bars), and Sydney Jelen (beam), each ranking among conference leaders.
Oregon State comes into Friday’s meet ranked No. 25 nationally with an NQS of 195.982 and features athletes such as Sophia Esposito (all-around), Ellie Weaver (bars), Lauren Letzsch (beam), and Olivia Buckner (vault) who are among national leaders in their events.
Historically, Oregon State holds a significant advantage over Utah State in head-to-head meetings with a series lead of 19-1—including five straight victories; OSU won their earlier matchup this season by less than one point.
In its most recent outing against Southern Utah, Utah State recorded strong performances across all events—including several career-highs from gymnasts like Morabito, Vater, VanderToolen, Bibbey, Laufer—and shared event titles among five different athletes.
After hosting Oregon State on Friday night, Utah State will conclude its regular season with a tri-meet at Arizona State featuring Southeast Missouri on Sunday, March 15.
