Utah State University’s women’s gymnastics team achieved its third-highest score in program history with a 196.875-195.725 victory over Southern Utah at the America First Event Center in Cedar City on Monday night. This win brings Utah State’s record to 14-4 for the season, tying the second-best start in school history alongside the 1999 and 1986 teams.

The team’s score is its highest since recording a 197.025 at the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championships in 2022. The all-time school record remains at 197.225, set in 1997.

Utah State began strong on bars, posting a season second-best of 49.225, followed by a season-high vault score of 49.175—tied for sixth-best in program history and highest since 2022. On floor, they recorded their second-best mark of the year with a 49.250 and finished on beam with another season-high of 49.225.

Southern Utah scored lower across three events but outperformed Utah State on floor with a score of 49.275.

During the meet, eight Aggies achieved career-highs and four posted season-bests across various events.

Five gymnasts shared two event titles during the competition: juniors Nyla Morabito and Isabella Vater, along with sophomore Lundyn VanderToolen each scored a career-high 9.875 on vault; senior Avery Bibbey and freshman Charley Laufer both posted scores of 9.875 on bars to share that title.

Morabito now holds ten vault titles, tied for fifth-most in program history, as well as her ninth overall title this year—seven coming from vault performances.

Vater earned her first vault title among seven career wins; VanderToolen secured her first vault title as well; Bibbey claimed her fifth bars title; Laufer notched her first career event win.

Head coach Kristin White commented after the meet: “Wow! There are seriously no words for what our team is feeling right now. The third highest team score in school history. Beating Southern Utah four times this season and doing it for each other. It’s a great night to be an Aggie!

“Aggie Nation, we need you Friday night. Let’s send the seniors off with record attendance. They deserve it!”

The Aggies will close their home schedule against Oregon State on Friday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m., after which they will honor seniors Avery Bibbey, Amari Evans, Marley Peterson, and Chelsea Southam.
