Utah State University’s men’s basketball team will play its final road game of the regular season against UNLV on Tuesday, March 3, at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The game is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Mountain Time and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
The Aggies currently lead the Mountain West Conference with a 14-4 record in league play, while San Diego State and New Mexico trail by one game at 13-5. With two games remaining in the regular season, Utah State can secure at least a share of the Mountain West regular season title by winning one of their last two matchups. If they win both games, they will claim the championship outright.
Utah State has previously won the conference’s regular season title twice, in 2019 and 2024. One more victory would give them a fourth consecutive season with at least 25 wins—a first in program history. In total, Utah State has achieved 13 seasons with 25 or more wins.
The upcoming Mountain West Tournament is set for March 11-14 in Las Vegas. Utah State has already secured a first-round bye and will enter as one of the top three seeds.
In national rankings, Utah State holds the No. 26 spot in both NET Rankings and KenPom ratings, making them the highest-ranked team from the Mountain West Conference in NET Rankings. The conference features eight teams ranked within the top 100 nationally.
Senior guard MJ Collins Jr. and junior guard Mason Falslev are among the top scorers in the conference, each ranking within the top ten for both points per game and shooting percentage. Utah State is also unique within its conference as it is the only team to have two players averaging at least 15 points per game.
Graduate guard Drake Allen and Mason Falslev rank first and second respectively in steals per game within the league, averaging 2.00 and 1.97 steals each contest. As a team, Utah State ranks 22nd nationally for steals per game with an average of 8.9.
Tuesday’s matchup marks the 54th meeting between Utah State and UNLV. While UNLV leads the all-time series with a record of 35-18, Utah State has had recent success by winning eight of their last ten encounters and twelve out of sixteen overall meetings between these programs. However, playing on UNLV’s home court has historically been challenging for Utah State; they hold a record of five wins to twenty losses when facing UNLV in Las Vegas.
