Utah State University men’s tennis team secured a 4-0 victory over New Mexico on March 27, maintaining an undefeated record in Mountain West Conference play. The match took place at the Randy Briggs Tennis Bubbles in Albuquerque and marked the Aggies’ fourth consecutive sweep, tying a program record previously set in 2024, 2017, and 2016.

The result highlights Utah State’s continued strong performance this season. With the win, the Aggies improved their overall record to 11-5 and moved to 3-0 within conference competition.

In doubles action, Eliot Nobel and Roman Venger started strong for Utah State with a decisive 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles. At the top spot, Xavier Calvelo and Jakub Medved clinched the doubles point with a narrow tiebreaker victory (7-6 [3]), giving USU an early lead. The No. 2 doubles match was left unfinished after Jean-Baptiste Badon and Dmitri Goubin held a lead when the point was decided.

Moving into singles play, Medved earned a quick win at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-0), followed by Venger’s straight-set victory at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-2). Calvelo then secured the clinching point for Utah State with his own straight-set triumph at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-1). Several other matches were underway but left unfinished once Utah State reached four points.

Looking ahead, Utah State continues its Mountain West road trip with an upcoming match against Air Force on Sunday, March 29.
