Utah State men’s tennis set a new program record on March 29 by securing its fifth-straight sweep, defeating Air Force 4-0 at the USAFA Outdoor Tennis Courts in Colorado Springs.
The victory marks an important milestone for Utah State, highlighting the team’s strong performance during this stretch of matches. The Aggies’ consistent results demonstrate their competitive form as they continue Mountain West Conference play.
In doubles competition, Xavier Calvelo and Jakub Medved earned a decisive 6-1 win at the top spot. Jean-Baptiste Badon and Dmitri Goubin clinched the doubles point for Utah State with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles. Eliot Nobel and Roman Venger were leading their match when play was halted after the point was secured.
Utah State maintained momentum in singles play, winning opening sets across all positions. Badon posted a straight-set win at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-2), followed by Calvelo’s victory at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-3). Medved sealed the team sweep and set the new program record with his result at No. 5 singles (7-5, 7-6 [4]). Remaining matches were left unfinished once Utah State clinched overall victory.
With this result, Utah State improves to a season record of 12 wins and five losses overall, including four wins without defeat in Mountain West Conference play. Air Force falls to six wins and ten losses on the season.
Looking ahead, Utah State will conclude its three-match road trip against San Diego State on April 2 before returning home to host Grand Canyon University on April 4.
