Utah State University’s track and field teams are set to compete in the 2026 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place from February 26 to 28 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada. This marks the first time Nevada will host the event.

The Aggies will be represented by 28 men and 28 women competing across a range of events. Team points are determined by individual finishes, with first place earning ten points and eighth place receiving one point. The top three finishers in each event receive All-Mountain West honors.

Utah State athletes have had a strong indoor season leading up to the championships. They earned a program-record 12 Mountain West weekly awards during the current campaign. Notable performances include freshman Adia Ross winning both MW Women’s Track Athlete and Freshman of the Week honors, senior Logan Hammer securing his seventh career MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week award, sophomore Presley Gray named MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, and sophomore Ayodele Ojo, Jr. as MW Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. Other honorees this season include junior Sam Beckwith, freshman Lexi Toronto, freshman Sally Roos, junior Landon Bott, freshman Karina Cooper, and freshman David Konan.

Several school records have been broken during this indoor season. At the BYU December Invitational in December 2025, Hammer set a new men’s pole vault record (5.63 meters), Javin Richards broke the men’s heptathlon record (5,536 points), and Ross set a new mark in women’s 60 meters (7.48). Ojo broke both Utah State’s and Mountain West’s record in the men’s 60 meters at the Snake River Open with a time of 6.55 seconds in January 2026. Bott twice broke his own school record for men’s 800 meters during meets at home and at Arkansas’ Tyson Invitational.

Returning athletes bring experience from last year’s conference championships where Utah State men finished third with 109 points while women placed eighth with 43 points. Hammer won his second consecutive pole vault title last year; Bott took gold in the men’s 800 meters; Ernest Green secured silver in that event; Diego Aguirre-Stewart was runner-up in the men’s 200 meters; Taite Priestley earned bronze in high jump; Marshall Rasmussen won silver alongside Hammer on the pole vault podium.

This season saw an influx of new talent: six transfers (two men, four women) and twenty-two freshmen joined Utah State track and field—fourteen newcomers are slated to compete at these championships.

Looking ahead beyond conference competition, several Aggie athletes aim to qualify for nationals at Arkansas’ NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 13-14. Currently ranked among national leaders are Bott (sixth nationally in men’s 800 meters), Ojo (tenth nationally in men’s 60 meters), and Hammer (thirteenth nationally in men’s pole vault).

In their most recent competitions—including invitationals hosted by Arkansas, New Mexico, Idaho State, and Washington—Utah State athletes claimed six titles and twelve podium finishes while setting three new program records.
