Utah State University sophomore Chase Goetschel finished tied for 31st place at the Watney Invitational, hosted by Fresno State at San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, California. Goetschel posted a total score of 7-over-par 220 across three rounds, with scores of 71, 74, and 75.
The tournament featured 14 teams. Nevada secured first place with an even-par team total of 852. Utah State placed 14th with a combined score of 903, which was 51-over par. Seattle University’s Kevin Li won individual medalist honors after tying at 4-under-par 209 and then prevailing in a playoff.
Other Utah State participants included sophomore Noah Moody (tied for 56th, +13), senior Luis Cantu (tied for 60th, +15), sophomore Toby Heider (tied for 62nd, +16), and freshman Zach Skinner (tied for 74th, +24).
Utah State is scheduled to continue its spring season on March 23-24 at the Bell Bank “Pay it Forward” Collegiate hosted by Minnesota at Wigwam Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona.
