Utah State University will send three athletes to the 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, according to an announcement made Tuesday. The qualifiers are junior Landon Bott, senior Logan Hammer, and sophomore Ayodele Ojo, Jr.
Bott secured his place in the men’s 800 meters as the sixth-ranked runner nationally. His qualifying time of 1:45.72 was adjusted for altitude and track type from a performance at the Roman Ruiz Speed and Power Invitational on January 31. That race also saw him set new school and George Nelson Fieldhouse records.
Hammer enters the championships ranked 13th in men’s pole vault after clearing 5.63 meters at the BYU December Invitational on December 10. A three-time All-American, Hammer is returning to the indoor championships after finishing sixth last year. He recently claimed his third consecutive Mountain West title with a clearance of 5.50 meters.
Ojo qualified for nationals with a 60-meter dash time of 6.55 seconds at the Snake River Open on January 15, which converts to 6.57 for altitude adjustments and places him 15th among competitors. Ojo holds both Utah State’s school record and the Mountain West conference record in this event, having earned silver at last weekend’s MW Indoor Championships with a time of 6.64 seconds.
The number of Utah State entries matches a school record set in 2018 when Dillon Maggard (3,000 meters), Clay Lambourne (800 meters), and a distance medley relay team competed, leading to USU’s best finish since 1977.
Hammer is now the first Aggie since Maggard (2016-18) to qualify for consecutive indoor championships. The current group of three qualifiers is also tied for second-most in both the Mountain West Conference and within Utah.
The athletes will compete Friday, March 13 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The schedule includes semifinals for men’s 60 meters at 4:45 p.m., men’s 800-meter semifinals at 5:35 p.m., and the men’s pole vault final starting at 3:45 p.m., all times Mountain Time. Coverage will be available on ESPN networks.
