Utah State softball earned a 5-1 victory over Weber State on April 14 at Wildcat Softball Field in Ogden.

The win is significant for the Aggies, who improved their record to 17-26 overall and 5-11 in Mountain West play. The team took an early lead with three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a home run from senior infielder Kaylee Erickson that also brought home Alex Bunton and Kya Pratt.

Freshman pitcher Kendall Cochran started for Utah State and kept Weber State hitless until the fourth inning. The Wildcats managed their only run of the game in the sixth inning due to an error at home plate, reducing Utah State’s lead to two runs. In response, Erickson hit her second home run of the day during the seventh inning after a double from Pratt, extending the Aggies’ advantage to four runs. The Aggies held Weber State without a hit in the final frame to secure the win.

Utah State recorded 11 hits compared to three for Weber State. Both Pratt and Erickson went 3-for-4 at bat, while freshman infielder Jazmin Ramirez contributed two hits and a walk. Cochran allowed just three hits and one run over six innings before senior Rylie Pindel closed out the game without allowing another hit.

Looking ahead, Utah State will host San José State for a three-game conference series from April 17 through April 19 at LaRee and LeGrand Johnson Field. All games are scheduled to be streamed on Mountain West Network.
