Utah State softball lost to Nevada, 10-6, at LaRee & LeGrand Johnson Field on Sunday, March 22. The Aggies now hold a record of 14-17 overall and are even at 3-3 in Mountain West Conference play.
The game saw Utah State take an early lead after senior Kya Pratt doubled in the first inning. Senior Kaylee Erickson and senior Alex Bunton each singled, with Bunton driving in Pratt. Freshman infielder Jazmin Ramirez then hit a three-run home run, giving the Aggies a four-run advantage.
Freshman pitcher Jordyn Lish kept Nevada scoreless until the third inning when the Wolf Pack loaded the bases and scored four runs with a grand slam. Utah State briefly regained the lead thanks to doubles from Erickson and Bunton and an RBI single by freshman Kate Vance. However, Nevada responded with a solo home run in the fourth inning before taking control with five runs in the sixth.
Offensively, Ramirez led Utah State with her third home run of the season. Bunton contributed two hits and two RBIs while Erickson also recorded two hits. On the mound, Lish pitched just over two innings allowing four earned runs and striking out three batters—matching her career high. Senior Carly Limosnero pitched three innings but was charged with five earned runs; senior Rylie Pindel allowed one earned run before freshman Kendall Cochran closed out with a scoreless seventh inning.
Utah State will next host No. 22 Grand Canyon for a three-game series at Johnson Field from March 27 to March 29.
