Utah State track and field is set to compete at the Weber State Spring Classic in Ogden on April 10, the Utah Spring Classic in Salt Lake City on April 11, and will also have senior Javin Richards participating in the men’s decathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis in Azusa, California from April 9-10.

These events come as Utah State returns nine all-Mountain West performers from last year’s outdoor season. The Aggie men finished third at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships with 114.5 points, while the women placed ninth with 38 points.

Senior Logan Hammer secured his third consecutive conference title in men’s pole vault last year, setting a meet record of 5.65 meters. Junior Landon Bott won gold in the men’s 800 meters, adding to his indoor championship title. Seniors Marshall Rasmussen and Javin Richards completed a sweep of the pole vault podium for Utah State. In throws, junior Walker Deede earned silver in javelin and junior Joseph Turner took bronze in discus. On the women’s side, junior Shelby Jensen won silver in the steeplechase.

Currently, nine Aggie athletes or relay teams rank among the top-25 performers in their events within the NCAA West Region. This includes high placements by Ojo and David Konan (men’s 100 meters), Shay Jones (women’s 400 meters), Deede (men’s javelin), Hammer and Richards (men’s pole vault), Garnica and Woodhouse (men’s steeplechase), as well as strong performances by both men’s and women’s relay teams.

Freshman Henry Tait was named Mountain West Men’s Freshman of the Week on March 24, while Karina Cooper received her second women’s freshman honor on March 31. During this past indoor season, Utah State athletes achieved a program-record twelve weekly awards.

The team posted sixty-four top-10 school performances during indoor competition this year; eight school records were broken or tied across various events including pole vaults by Hammer and Richards as well as sprints by Adia Ross and Ayodele Ojo Jr., among others. Three men qualified for nationals—matching a program best—and each earned Second-Team All-American honors.
