Utah State University’s track and field teams will travel out-of-state for the first time in the 2026 outdoor season, with sprinters competing at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida, and distance runners, jumpers, and throwers participating in the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, California. The meets are scheduled for April 3-4.
These competitions mark a significant step in Utah State’s outdoor campaign as athletes seek to build on recent successes. The Aggies return nine all-Mountain West performers from last year’s outdoor season. In 2025, the men’s team placed third at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships with 114.5 points while the women’s team finished ninth with 38 points.
Senior Logan Hammer secured his third consecutive conference title in men’s pole vault last year with a meet-record clearance of 5.65 meters (18-6.5). Junior Landon Bott won gold in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:49.68, adding to his indoor championship win earlier that year. Other notable performances included podium sweeps by seniors Marshall Rasmussen and Javin Richards in pole vault and strong showings from junior Walker Deede (javelin) and Joseph Turner (discus). On the women’s side, junior Shelby Jensen claimed silver in the steeplechase.
Entering April, Utah State has twelve athletes ranked among the top-25 competitors in their events within the NCAA West Region. Notably, Ayodele Ojo Jr. is second regionally among men’s sprinters while freshman David Konan is sixth; Deede stands sixth nationally for javelin throws; Camilla McKinstry ranks seventh for women’s steeplechase; several others also hold top regional spots as they aim for NCAA First Round qualification.
The program has also seen recognition during awards season: freshman Henry Tait earned Mountain West Men’s Freshman of the Week honors on March 24—his first career award—while Karina Cooper was named Women’s Freshman of the Week on March 31 for her second such accolade this year.
Utah State athletes posted sixty-four performances ranking among school history’s top ten during this indoor season and broke or tied eight school records across various events including sprints, relays, jumps, throws and middle distances. Three Aggie men qualified for this year’s NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships—a mark that ties a program record—and each earned Second-Team All-American honors.
