Utah State University’s track and field team will participate in the UVU Collegiate Invitational in Orem, Utah, on March 26. The meet will take place at Hal Wing Track and Field, beginning at 8 a.m.
The event is significant as it continues the Aggies’ outdoor campaign after a strong showing during both the previous outdoor and indoor seasons. The men’s team returns nine all-Mountain West performers from last year, where they placed third at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships with 114.5 points. The women’s team finished ninth with 38 points.
Several athletes achieved notable successes last season. Senior Logan Hammer secured his third consecutive conference title in men’s pole vault with a meet-record clearance of 5.65 meters (18-6.5). Junior Landon Bott won gold in the men’s 800 meters, adding to his indoor championship title from earlier that year. Seniors Marshall Rasmussen and Javin Richards completed an Aggie sweep of the pole vault podium, while junior Walker Deede earned silver in javelin for a second straight year and junior Joseph Turner took bronze in discus.
On the women’s side, junior Shelby Jensen claimed silver in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:48.44. Freshman Henry Tait was recently named Mountain West Freshman of the Week on March 24—his first career conference honor—which marks Utah State’s first accolade of this outdoor season.
During the recent indoor season, Utah State athletes posted sixty-four performances ranking among school history’s top ten marks; they also broke or tied eight school records across various events including pole vault, heptathlon, sprints, middle distance races, and relays. Three men qualified for the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships—tying a program record—with each earning Second-Team All-American honors.
In their most recent competition at the Utah Tech Invitational to open this year’s outdoor schedule, Utah State collected five event titles and fourteen podium finishes while achieving two new top-ten performances for school history.
