Utah State track and field will begin its 2026 outdoor season at the Utah Tech Invitational in St. George, Utah, on March 21.
The event marks the start of a new campaign for the Aggies, who return nine all-Mountain West performers from last year’s outdoor season. The men’s team finished third at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships in 2025 with 114.5 points, while the women’s team placed ninth with 38 points.
Senior Logan Hammer is coming off his third consecutive conference title in the men’s pole vault, setting a meet record with a clearance of 5.65 meters. Junior Landon Bott also returns after winning gold in the men’s 800 meters last year, adding to his indoor championship title. Other returning medalists include seniors Marshall Rasmussen and Javin Richards in pole vault, junior Walker Deede in javelin, junior Joseph Turner in discus, Ayodele Ojo Jr. in the 100 meters, and Taite Priestley in high jump. On the women’s side, junior Shelby Jensen won silver in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
During the recent indoor season, Utah State athletes posted 64 performances that ranked among the top ten in school history. Ten athletes earned all-conference honors at this year’s Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships. Aggie athletes broke or tied eight school records during the indoor campaign across various events including pole vault, heptathlon, sprints, middle distance races, and relays.
Three men—Bott (800 meters), Hammer (pole vault), and Ojo (60 meters)—qualified for the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships this year and earned Second-Team All-American honors. The Aggies concluded their indoor season by capturing one gold medal and seven podium finishes at the Mountain West Indoor Championships held from February 26-28.
