Utah State head women’s basketball coach Wesley Brooks announced on April 17 the hiring of Greg Gilman as assistant coach and offensive coordinator.

The addition of Gilman is expected to strengthen the team’s coaching staff with his experience at both collegiate and professional levels. His background includes working in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) at Arkansas, as well as developing players who have gone on to play professionally.

“I am excited to bring Greg on board,” Brooks said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having spent time in SEC at Arkansas, as well as being an integral part of multiple professional players’ development. Greg and I speak the same language offensively and I am looking forward to him adding his expertise to our offense.”

Gilman most recently served as director of on-court development at Arkansas last season. Since 2018, he has worked independently developing men’s and women’s basketball players, including NBA player Lu Dort from the Oklahoma City Thunder since 2019. Before joining Arkansas, Gilman coached with the Toyota Antelopes in Japan’s Women’s Basketball League and was a graduate assistant at Southern Nazarene University from 2022-2024. During his tenure there, Southern Nazarene posted a record of 57-8 over two years, secured two regular season conference titles, one conference tournament championship, and made two national tournament appearances reaching the Sweet 16.

Gilman’s coaching career also includes working with several NBA athletes such as Jaylin Williams and Chet Holmgren (Oklahoma City Thunder), Jericho Sims (Milwaukee Bucks), Zylan Cheatham, Alan Williams, Matt Thomas, Ryan Boatright, Isaiah Roby, Jordan Shepherd among others. On the women’s side he has helped develop Danni Williams; Shiori Yasuma; Mai Yamamoto—members of both Toyota Antelopes and Japan National Team—as well as Madison Conner; Jade Loville; Shaylee Gonzales; Caitlin Bickle; Sabrina Haines; Hannah Giddey.
