Utah State head women’s basketball coach Wesley Brooks announced on May 12 the signing of Catalina Roco to the team.

The addition of Roco is expected to strengthen the team’s shooting and defense. “Catalina gives us another elite shooter on the floor having shot a blistering 46 percent on 3-pointers last season,” Brooks said. “She also brings quickness and athleticism to our roster which will allow her to be a defensive asset as well.”

Roco, a 5-foot-6 guard from Quillota, Chile, transfers to Utah State after two seasons at Daytona State College. In her most recent season with the Falcons, she played in 29 games with 11 starts, averaging 11.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. She helped lead her team to the FCSAA Citrus Conference regular season title and reached the quarterfinals of the FCSAA championship.

Known for her three-point shooting ability, Roco made 65 three-pointers at a rate of nearly 46.4 percent last season and shot over 75 percent from the free throw line. She scored multiple three-pointers in a game on more than twenty occasions and recorded a career-high seven threes in one game against St. Petersburg College.

Before joining Daytona State College, Roco played for Sportive Italiana W in Chile and was part of the U17 Chilean national team at the South American Women’s Championship in 2023.
