Utah State head women’s basketball coach Wesley Brooks announced the signing of Lisa Thompson on May 13.
The addition of Thompson brings experience and depth to the Utah State Aggies, as she has played for both Missouri and Rutgers in her collegiate career.
“I have watched Lisa play since she was in eighth grade,” Brooks said. “Lisa is an explosive athlete who can get to rim and finish, and can score at will when put in position to do so. Lisa is a two-way player whose best basketball is ahead of her. Lisa will step in right way and help us from day one.”
Thompson, originally from Joliet, Illinois, appeared in 32 games for Missouri this past season, making 10 starts while averaging 3.9 points per game along with 1.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists. She contributed to Missouri’s berth in the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT), scoring a season-high 14 points against Georgia and reaching double figures against Illinois, Tulane, and other teams.
Before transferring to Missouri, Thompson spent two seasons at Rutgers where she played in 58 games with 33 starts. She averaged nearly six points per game during her time there and had several notable performances including a career-best 17 points versus Northwestern as a freshman.
Thompson finished her high school career at Example Academy in Frankfort, Illinois where she led her team to the Independent National Championship in 2023. She was named Herald News Player of the Year twice and earned all-state honors before attending Joliet West High School where she helped secure three consecutive conference championships.
