Utah State women’s tennis defeats College of Idaho with clean sweep

Utah State women’s tennis secured a 7-0 victory against College of Idaho at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club in Logan, Utah, on Saturday. The Aggies won all matches in both doubles and singles competition.

In doubles play, Maria Ramos Garcia and Chahd Tourkhani earned a 6-0 win to start the day. Olivia Halvorsen and Kylee Sperry followed with a 6-1 victory. Natalie Paterova and Sabina Pintea closed out doubles with another 6-1 win, giving Utah State the first point of the match.

During singles matches, Ramos Garcia quickly defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at the second position. Tourkhani matched that result at No. 3 singles. Sperry clinched the overall match for Utah State with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. At the top spot, Paterova posted a 6-1, 6-3 result. Magdalena Nunez Pureco added a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles while Halvorsen finished off the sweep with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 5.

The Aggies now have a season record of six wins and three losses. College of Idaho’s record moves to four wins and seven losses.

Utah State will next face Idaho at home on Sunday, March 1.
