Utah State women’s tennis lost to Air Force, 4-2, on April 12 at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club in Logan. The defeat ended Utah State’s four-match winning streak.

The match began with Air Force taking the doubles point after victories at the top two positions. Utah State’s Maria Paula Ramos Garcia and Chahd Tourkhani were tied 5-5 in their doubles match when Air Force clinched the point.

In singles play, Air Force extended its lead by winning at the second position. Tourkhani responded for Utah State with a straight-set win at No. 4 singles, followed by Magdalena Nunez Pureco’s three-set victory at No. 5 singles that evened the score at 2-2 after matches moved indoors due to weather conditions. However, Air Force secured a three-set win at the top spot and then won a pair of tiebreaks in the third position to seal their overall victory.

The Aggies’ next match will be Senior Day against No. 52 Boise State on Friday, April 17, scheduled for 11 a.m., also at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club. The team will honor seniors Olivia Halvorsen and Magdalena Nunez Pureco before play begins.
