Utah State women’s tennis defeated Nevada 4-2 on March 29 at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club, bringing their season record to 8-8. This marks the program’s highest single-season win total since 2019.

The match began with doubles play, where sophomore Kylee Sperry and freshman Terezia Mlkva earned a quick victory at No. 2 doubles. Nevada responded by winning the top doubles spot, but Utah State secured the overall doubles point after sophomore Maria Paula Ramos Garcia and freshman Chahd Tourkhani clinched a win at No. 3.

In singles competition, Ramos Garcia continued her strong performance with a decisive win at No. 4 singles to double Utah State’s lead. Redshirt junior Magdalena Nunez Pureco then extended the advantage by winning her match in straight sets at No. 6 singles following a close first-set tiebreaker.

Nevada fought back by taking victories in both of the top two singles positions, each featuring tiebreaks and comebacks from both sides. However, Natalie Paterova regained momentum for Utah State with a dominant third set to secure another point for her team and clinch the overall victory. At No. 5 singles, Tourkhani was tied when play was halted due to Utah State having already secured enough points for the team win.

Utah State will now head out on the road for its next three matches, starting April 2 against Fresno State.
