Utah State women’s tennis secures fourth straight win with victory over New Mexico

Utah State women’s tennis achieved a 4-1 win against New Mexico on April 10 at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium in Albuquerque.

The result marks Utah State’s first four-match winning streak in conference play in program history and its first overall four-match run since 2022. The Aggies now hold an 11-8 record, including a 5-4 mark in Mountain West play, while New Mexico drops to 12-9 and 3-5 in the conference.

In doubles, Utah State took an early lead by winning at the top two positions. Terezia Mlkva and Kylee Sperry won their match at No. 2 doubles with a score of 6-2. Natalie Paterova and Sabina Pintea clinched the point for Utah State by defeating their opponents at No. 1 doubles, finishing with a score of 6-3. The third doubles match was left unfinished.

During singles competition, New Mexico leveled the match after taking No. 2 singles, but Maria Paula Ramos Garcia put Utah State back ahead with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-2). Magdalena Nunez Pureco extended the Aggies’ lead by winning her match at No. 6 singles (6-1, 6-4). At No.1 singles, Mlkva lost her opening set but came back to secure the team win with scores of 2-6, 6-1, and 6-2.

The Aggies will next host Air Force on Sunday, April 12.
